Los Castillo
The brothers who formed Los Castillo took a different path than fellow apprentice Antonio Pineda. Perhaps taking inspiration from the Mixtec use of turquoise inlay, Los Castillo would become known in their early years for their traditional forms adorned with stone inlaid fauna native to Mexico like their iconic pitcher with a stylized yet natural parrot peeking into the opening. Their unique mix and layers of metals makes for a playful use of color and tone second to none. Later, the new generations working at the shop would push the aesthetic of the company into more natural forms inspired by organic materials.
